    Source of Recipe

    gijane

    List of Ingredients

    • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
    • 2 cups buttermilk
    • 2 cups self-rising flour
    • 1 teaspoon black pepper
    • 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • Seasoned salt
    • 1 teaspoon parsley flakes
    • 1 1/2 cups solid Crisco Butter Flavored Shortening

    Instructions

    1. Allow chicken breasts to thaw just a little so that they can easily be cut into strips.
    2. Remove all fat from chicken breasts and cut each breast into 3 strips.
    3. Place chicken strips in a ziplock bag and pour in buttermilk.
    4. Allow chicken strips to be coated with buttermilk.
    5. Refrigerate overnight or atleast 4 hours.
    6. When ready to cook the chicken strips, melt the shortening in a pan and allow the temperature to reach 350 degrees. This is easy to do when using an electric skillet.
    7. Using a clean paper bag, mix the flour with all of the seasonings except for seasoned salt.
    8. Drain the chicken strips from the buttermilk and discard buttermilk.
    9. Dredge the chicken strips in the flour mixture.
    10. Sprinkle each of the strips with a little seasoned salt.
    11. Fry chicken strips in hot oil 5 to 7 minutes on each side, or until strips are golden brown.
    12. Drain on paper towels.
    13. Makes 4 servings
