Bean Soup

List of Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups diced cooked ham
- 1 cup diced celery
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
- 1 pound great northern beans
- 1 cup diced onion
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Soak beans in enough water to cover overnight.
- Saute ham, celery and onion in oil.
- Drain beans.
- Place beans back in pot with 6 cups of fresh water, ham and seasonings.
- Cook for 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
- Remove 2 cups of beans and mash.
- Return mashed beans to pot.
- Reseason if needed.
