    Beef: Campfire Hash

    List of Ingredients


    • 4 slices of bacon
    • 1 cup chopped onion
    • 3 tablespoons butter
    • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
    • 1 teaspoon ketchup
    • 1 cup water (more if needed)
    • 2 teaspoons salt, or to taste
    • Pepper
    • 1 teaspoon chili powder
    • 3 cups raw peeled, diced potatoes


    Instructions


    1. Fry bacon until crisp; set aside. Add onion to bacon grease and saute until tender. Add butter and ground beef, fry until browned; drain.

    2. Chop bacon into small pieces. Add bacon and remaining ingredients to skillet. Cook slowly until potatoes are tender.

    3. Serves 6



    Final Comments


    I drain some bacon grease before sauting onion. I drain the grease before adding ground beef, and drain when beef is browned.
