    Green Beans: Spanish Green Beans

    • 3/4 cup chopped onion
    • 5 1/2 cups frozen cut green beans
    • 1 cup water
    • 1/2 teaspoon dried minced garlic
    • 1 (14 1/2 ounce) can stewed tomatoes, undrained
    • 1/3 cup light ketchup
    • 2 tablespoons Hormel bacon bits
    • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper


    Instructions


    1. In a large skillet sprayed with butter flavor cooking spray, saute onion until tender, about 5 minutes.

    2. Add green beans, water and garlic. Mix well to combine. Lower heat. Cover and simmer 20 minutes or until beans are tender.

    3. Add undrained tomatoes, ketchup, bacon bits and black pepper. Mix well to combine. Continue cooking 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    4. Makes 6 (1 cup) servings at 97 calories per cup.
