Recipe Introduction
I always cook BIG, so you may want to cut this soup in half - for a small family. This is a BIG HIT with my family!
List of Ingredients
4 CANS peas (no frozen!)
*2 cans black beans
2 cans evaporated milk
2 whole slices ham
1/2 cup minced dry onion
1 tsp garlic salt
2 Tbsp seasoning salt
optional: cheddar cheese, grated
Recipe
In blender, pour two cans of peas at a time, and blend on high. Pour all four cans of blended peas in large soup pan. Add 2 cans drained black beans. Add 2 cans evaporated milk. Chop ham into small cubes (about 2 heaping cups) and add. Add seasonings.
Stir, and simmer on medium until heated through. Add grated cheese to hot bowls of soup, if desired.
Goes well with cornbread!
*I use 1 lb package dry black beans instead of canned; this takes more preparation time. Follow directions on bean package.
