Recipe Introduction
I have added and deleted some ingredients to adjust to my family's taste. This isn't very spicy so I put the chili powder on the table so it can be made as spicy as folks want!
List of Ingredients
- 3.5 lbs Ground Chuck
- 1/4 c Chopped Green Pepper
- 1/2 c Chopped Onion
- 1/2 t Salt
- 3 14.5 oz Cans Of Fire Roasted Diced Tomatoes (Aldi)
- 2 28 oz Cans Of Crushed Tomatoes (Aldi)
- 2 pkgs Of Lipton Dried Beefy Onion Soup Mix
- 1 15 oz Can Of Black Beans, Drained And Rinsed (Aldi)
- 1 T Chili Powder
- 2 t Ground Cumin
- 2 t Cocoa Powder
- 1 c Pepsi
- Garnishes:
- Shredded Cheddar Cheese (Use Your Favorite)
- Chopped Green Onions
- Sour Cream
Instructions
- Brown ground beef. When almost all of the pink is gone, add salt, green peppers and onions, cook until onions and peppers are soft and tender.
- Add the rest of the ingredients. (Not The Garnishes)
- Bring to a boil and turn down to low simmering for 2 hours. Stir every 15 minutes to avoid burning or place in a crock pot.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool so the fat comes to the top and becomes hard so it can be removed. If it is cold enough outside (40* or less) and you have a safe place to put it outside, use mother nature to give you a hand!
- Chili can then be reheated and served in 2 hours or the next day or so.
- Garnish with cheese, chopped green onions and sour cream.
- Enjoy!
