Banana Cake

List of Ingredients
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup Crisco
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon soda
2 eggs
1 cup mashed very ripe bananas
1 teaspoon vanilla
Topping:
We double this)
1/2 stick butter or margerine
3/4 cup brown sugar
enough milk or cream to make it spreadable
1 teaspoon vanilla
Recipe
Cream together the sugar and Crisco. Mix the flour with the salt and baking powder. Mix the baking soda with the buttermilk. Add the flour to the sugar mixture alternatly with the buttermilk. Add the two eggs and the mashed bananas, and vanilla. Bake in a 13x9 pan for 35-40 minutes, or until it tests done, in a 350 degree oven. While the cake is still hot, top with a mixture of:

Return to oven until frosting is melted and bubbly.
