    Fudge Upside-Down Cake

    List of Ingredients




    Cake:
    1 tablespoon shortening
    3/4 cup sugar
    1/2 cup milk
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    1 cup flour
    l teaspoon baking powder
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 1/2 tablespoons cocoa

    Topping:

    1/4 cup cocoa,
    1/2 cup white sugar
    1/2 cup brown sugar.

    Recipe



    Cream sugar and shortening. Add milk and vanilla. Sift flour,
    baking powder, salt and cocoa into mixture. Pour into greased 8"
    square cake pan.

    Topping:

    Combine 1/4 cup cocoa,
    1/2 cup white sugar
    1/2 cup brown sugar.

    Spread 1/2 cup chopped nuts over cake batter and cover with
    cocoa/sugar mixture. Pour 1 3/4 cup boiling water over topping and
    batter.

    Bake 35 minutes in a 350F. oven. When cool, cut into squares and
    serve with whipped cream.

    Makes 8-10 servings.
