Rolled Oatmeal Cookies

2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
1 c. rolled oats
3/4 c. Crisco or butter
3/4 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Recipe
Beat shortening, egg, sugar, milk and vanilla. Add
sifted dry ingredients. Stir in oats. Roll out on lightly
floured board to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut in shapes. Bake on
greased cookie sheet. Do not let brown too much. Bake at 375 degrees
for 12 to 15 minutes.
Optional: Either sprinkle with colored sugar or frost
with powdered sugar frosting. Not too sweet. The longer they
last, the better they are. Freezes great.
