    Old Fashioned Custard Ice Cream

    List of Ingredients




    2 cups milk
    1 tablespoon flour
    3/4 cup sugar
    2 egg yolks slightly beaten
    2 cups heavy cream
    1 tablespoon vanilla
    1/4 teaspoon salt

    Recipe



    Heat 1 1/2 cups of the milk until very hot. Mix together the flour, sugar
    and 1/2 cup milk in a bowl. Slowly add the hot milk stirring until smooth.
    Return to the pan and cook over moderate heat stirring constantly for about
    8 minutes. Pour a little of the milk mixture over the egg yolks. Then stir
    the yolk mixture in to the pan. Cook for another minute. Strain and cool.
    Add the cream, vanilla and salt. Chill. Freeze in a electric ice cream
    freezer according to manufacturer's instructions.

    Makes 1 1/2 quarts
