    The Perfect Lasagna

    List of Ingredients




    1 pound ground beef
    1 pound Italian sausage
    1 16-ounce can of tomatoes, cut up
    1 12-ounce can tomato paste
    1 small can tomato sauce
    4 cloves garlic, minced
    1/2 cup red wine
    2 tablespoons minced basil
    1 tablespoon minced oregano
    1/2 teaspoon sugar
    2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
    1/2 small can black olives
    1 1/2 teaspoon salt
    10 lasagna noodles, cooked until softened, but still firm
    2 beaten eggs
    2 cups Ricotta cheese
    1/2 cup grated Romano cheese
    1 tablespoon freshly minced parsley
    1/2 teaspoon pepper
    2 1/2 pounds grated Mozzarella cheese

    Brown meats; drain fat. Add next 11 ingredients. Simmer, uncovered,
    for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cook noodles during last 10 or
    so minutes and drain well. Preheat oven to 375.

    For Ricotta filling, blend eggs and remaining ingredients, except Mozzarella.

    Assembly: In a 13-inch-by-9-inch dish put a layer of noodles; layer
    of Ricotta mix; layer of meat sauce; Mozzarella. Repeat the layers.
    Bake about 30 minutes and put another layer of Mozzarella on top
    about 25 minutes into cooking. Let stand a few minutes before cutting
    while your garlic bread is toasting.
