    Marinara Sauce

    List of Ingredients




    red-ripe tomatoes(any variety will do but plum tomatoes usually work best)
    2 tablespoons granulated sugar
    1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped
    1 tablespoon fresh oregano, chopped
    1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
    Salt and black pepper to taste
    1 small (6-ounce) can tomato paste
    Water as needed

    Recipe



    Bring a large pot of water to the boil over high heat. Plunge tomatoes in batches
    into the water for 1 minute per batch. Remove from the water and peel. Chop the tomatoes
    into rough chunks.

    Combine the tomatoes in a sauce pan with sugar, basil, oregano, salt and pepper. Simmer for about 1 hour. Add the tomato paste and simmer for an additional hour, adding water if the sauce gets too thick.
