Getting Started
You might want to print this page to use as a
reference as you go about getting your archive
set up.
Register: When you set up your Recipe
Circus account, your password will be e-mailed to you. (Most people
will receive this within a few minutes.) You will then be able to
log on to your account. If you're bad about remembering passwords,
we'll even do that for you, too. As soon as we confirm your e-mail
address, your account will be activated.
(There is a problem with the system remembering your password for
the time being, but JB is working on the fix. We'll keep you up-to-date
on that progress. For now, pls write your password down in a convenient
location.)
Have no fear. We have never sold anyone's information
to anyone, and we never will.
Log On: Enter your user id and password.
When you are ready to create your own personal recipe database, click on
"Login."
You should now be on the Recipe Circus User Menu page. To create
your own archive, click on Edit Home Page and Design Preferences.
This is also the place where you may change your password to something
that you can remember, if you wish.
The first thing you must do is give your archive a name. Like
all websites, this title is what makes it unique.
Next, make your selections from among the various options.
We've provided several graphics, some of which are animated, and will be
adding more in the future. Be patient when this page displays because
it is loading a lot of graphics so that you will have many to choose from.
If your needs are specific and you don't see one that's "just right" for
you, write to us with a description of whatever it is you want, and we'll
try to find something.
Warning: Be careful about which options you choose.
If you opt to have any text appear in white, and if you choose a white
background, your text will not show up. I know this seems like a
no-brainer, but sometimes we get caught up in the big picture and don't
realize the ramifications of all we do.
Also, you should be aware that you only have one choice between a
background design OR a solid-color background.
Enter your "welcome" message and any links you wish to include.
This is the place where you could put a link to another home page you have,
or to another of your favorite cooking or crafts site. We prefer
that you limit these to food-related sites, but if its topic is another
of your pasttimes or even career-related, that's not a problem. A
link to Mimi's Cyber Kitchen at http://www.cyber-kitchen.com/ would always
be welcomed and appreciated.
Next, select your text and link colors, background image OR
solid color, horizontal line image, and bullet and email images.
Do a quick check of the items you've selected and then click on the
Update Page button at the bottom of the screen. If what you
see on your page doesn't look the way you thought it would, feel free to
use your "back" button to make changes, or at any time, select Edit
Home Page and Design Preferences to modify it.
Indentation: Once you select Update
Page, you are taken to another screen where you can actually see how
the text will fit on your page. Some of the backgrounds interfere
with text, which others (and those using solid-color backgrounds) have
no problem. Feel free to use the increase indentation or decrease
indentation to move this over. You may continue clicking on one or
the other until you are satisfied.
Didn't I tell you this would be easy?
Now, all you have to do is enter
your recipes.
